Fall and Winter Fruit Recipe Round Up

Fall and Winter Fruit Recipe Round Up

When kids knock on your door selling something for a fundraiser, do you place an order?  Decline politely and send them on their way?  Offer instead to give a donation?

Some items (Girl Scout cookies, fresh fruit) I always buy.  Other things (chocolate bars, popcorn, mulch) merit a donation.  Some things (cheesecake) depend on my mood at the time.  When I order fresh fruit, though, sometimes I need a little inspiration to use it all up.

Since my son's band is selling fruit right now, I asked my fellow food bloggers for recipes using fresh Fall and Winter fruits. I've got a massive amount of recipes to share, so I broke them down by type of fruit and type of recipe. As you can see by the Visual Recipe Indices above, I like categories.
I've got sweet recipes, I've got savory recipes.  I've got vegan and gluten free recipes.  I've got alcoholic and non alcoholic recipes.  Recipes for every meal of the day--and then some to put up for later!
Poke around and see what you like, then click on the links below the photos to go to the food blog where you'll find each recipe.  And thanks for stopping by!

Whew.  Now if anyone can tell me how many blogs are represented by this list, so I can brag about 156 recipes from 66 bloggers, I'd give you a big kiss. Or a shout out--[thanks, Sarah from The Cook's Life!]

This post is shared with What's Cookin' Wednesday and the From The Farm Blog Hop.

  2. Okay, that is a serious recipe round-up! Beautiful! I am in awe of the time it must have taken you to link to so many blogs. It is going to take me a long time to just look at all the recipes, much less make any of them. And I couldn't pass up a challenge – I believe there are 66 blogs represented, if I didn't mess up in my counting. :)

    2. Ha! I might be just a little OCD. I couldn't stop until I had counted them all. Typed out and numbered in a Word document. I might need a little therapy. :)

      Thanks for the shout out!

  3. The amount of organization in this post is top notch. Seriously it makes my OCD heart sing.
I'll give you a beet juice mimosa to congratulate you.

    1. Meghan,
Apparently between you and my spouse this whole organizing thing is rubbing off on me. For the record, though, there's a bag of papers I need to go through near my nightstand, so it's online on the computer that I appear organized.
Is it ok if we use my beet juice in the mimosa? I've still got some farm share beets in the fridge that would be delighted to jump into a champagne bath. If I can anthropomorphize root vegetables. Again.

    1. Lydia,
I don't know that I can help you with where to start. I could say the top. Or with a breakfast recipe. Or with a happy hour recipe. Or dinner. Or the bottom. Or a dessert. I just don't know!
I will NOT suggest you close your eyes and throw a dart at your monitor.
      Thanks!

  6. I have to admit, I don't usually buy. But in my defense, I never ever send my kids to sell to neighbors either!
Great roundup, particularly the grapefruit, I never do anything besides serve it up plain.

    1. Sherri,
I try to be careful, and send the kids to the neighbors who don't have kids the right age for selling (too young or out of the house), but I figure karma is worth a box of do-so-dos.
I'm glad to give you ideas--and save your grapefruit peels, I'll have a recipe up next week for those!
      Thanks!

I always start off enjoying the fresh fruit but within a couple of days I NEED TO USE IT IN SOME RECIPE so I'm glad to have this resource!
      Thanks!

    1. Rachel,
I have just realized that I've got lots of roasted beets, and I'll be getting a case of juice oranges tomorrow. I see a match made in my Vitamix in my future. I'm delighted to inspire you!
      Thanks!
